It’s an introductory zine on unschooling. I’m not sure how it’ll end up looking once it’s finished, but I’m trying to come up with a tentative table of contents, and this is what it includes so far. Where I don’t have titles yet, I just list the subject! Also note that the order these chapters appear in is very likely to change.
- A short introduction
- Unschooling: Life and Learning as Inseparable Entities (or, What is Unschooling?)
- Growing in Freedom… Unschooling in the Younger Years
- Unschooling in the teenage years
- Rising Out: The Choice to Leave School
- Why the Schooling Institution Sucks
- Unschooling Grows Up: Beyond High School
- What is Success, Anyway?
- Common Criticisms, and Why They’re Wrong
- The Right to Freedom
- Resources/Further Reading
So that’s what I’m thinking at this point! Like I said, this is all very tentative… And exciting! I’ll be selling it at the Montreal Anarchist Bookfair this May, so I actually have a deadline to meet here, which I’m using to spur me into actually writing this thing (I started it back in November, then just let it sit, untouched, until now)!
I want this to include all the basics, so if there’s a subject or specific point you think it would be important for me to include, please do let me know! I always love feedback, and am striving to write something you’d actually want to read, here.
So, any ideas?
